We help landowners conserve their land.
The Alabama Forest Land Trust (AFLT) was established to protect Alabama's rich natural heritage by conserving its forests, farmlands, and waterways. Through strategic partnerships and conservation easements, AFLT works to safeguard vital habitats, support biodiversity, and ensure that Alabama's natural landscapes remain intact for future generations.

Notable Accomplishments
Protection, through conservation easements, of over 90,000 acres of farm and forestland in 24 Alabama counties.
Protection of over 13,000 additional acres while administering the Forest Legacy Program for the Alabama Forestry Commission (AFC).
Management of endangered species populations on AFLT easements through USFWS and NFWF grants.
Secured the purchase of Live Oak Landing to enhance public access to the Mobile Tensaw Delta.
Established the Harrigan Forest Learning Center at the University of Mobile.
Drafted (under contract with AFC) Alabama’s 2010 Forest Assessment and Resource Strategy.
Drafted (under contract with AFC) the 2002 Alabama Forest Legacy Assessment of Need.
Drafted (for AFC) Alabama’s Fourth Forest report, 1987.

Thomas Reddick
Executive Director
Thomas joined AFLT in August 2023, bringing extensive expertise in forestry and land conservation. He started his career in Alabama forestry at Cooper Timberlands in Mobile. He later became the Director of Forest Management at the Nature Conservancy of Alabama. Thomas is a registered Alabama forester and has a master's degree from The University of Georgia's Langdale Center for Forest Business. He also holds an undergraduate degree in Forestry from Auburn University's College of Forestry, Wildlife, and Environment.

A Conservation Leader of Alabama
From 1999 to 2023, Dan led the Alabama Forest Land Trust, playing a crucial role in its development, protecting over 83,000 acres. A highly respected member of Alabama’s conservation community, Dan received the prestigious Alabama Wildlife Federation's Governor's Conservation Achievement Award for Conservationist of the Year in 2023.
